Bio

Dr Tamara Mikolič Južnič studied Italian language and literature and English language and translation. She  is Associate Professor at the Department of Translation of the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana (Slovenia). She has a PhD in linguistics (2008) and teaches language and translation courses at the BA and MA programmes in translation and interpreting, as well as at PhD level. She is Head of the Translation studies Chair. She has broadened her knowledge ad several Italian universities (in Trieste, Perugia, Venice, Siena). Her research interests include power relations in translation, resources in interpreting studies, community interpreting, literary translation history, translation and interpreter training, contrastive linguistics, corpus linguistics, Italian linguistics.

She is also an active translator of mainly technical and scientific texts, working with Italian, English and Slovene in any combination.

In her free time, she tends to her roses, sings in a choir and enjoys taking photographs.
